Actor, director, and producer Román Zaragoza has built a career spanning stage and screen with a focus on telling stories that center underrepresented voices. Zaragoza currently stars as Sasappis in CBS’ award-winning comedy series Ghosts. He is the voice of Sokka in the anticipated film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, alongside Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun and Eric Nam. His extensive theatre experience includes notable work at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, and Native Voices at the Autry. He earned his degree in Film Production from California State University, Northridge.

Background

Born in New York City and raised in a vibrant cultural environment, Román identifies as mixed race, with Akimel O’otham and Mexican heritage from his father and Japanese and Taiwanese roots from his mother. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Outlast Arts and Education, an initiative that provides film and media arts education to Indigenous and Black youth from rural communities in South Dakota. He also spends summers as a Guest Teacher at Konaway Nika Tillicum — Native Youth Theatre Camp in Oregon.
